There is a first-class video and article on the LA Times site about foley artist, Gary Hecker, who has made sound effects for the Twilight movies, Spiderman and Savages.
Today is the birthday of Max Fleisher. Fleisher developed the Rotoscope which allowed animators to trace frames of live action film. He used the Rotoscope extensively for his Out of the Inkwell series.
Fleisher's studio also created such stars as Betty Boop and developed animated adventures for popular newspaper characters such as E.C. Segar's Popeye and Superman.
