Site Updates:

  • We have started a weekly podcast that will take you through some of the lessons availble on this site.  This week's podcast is about what makes a comic a comic.  If you enjoy this podcast, there is a powerpoint presentation you can download with all the source files available here.  The presentation is released with an Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike Licence, so if you want to change slides or add new information, you are welcome to do so for personal or classroom use.
  • The DIY Textbooks menu has been removed for the time being, but there is a book in the works that will be available soon as a free PDF download.

  • I added a gallery plug in to the site and you can see some of the pictures that I've added to the Story Quilt Student Example section.
  • Howtoons (self proclaimed "World's Greatest D.I.Y. Comics Website) has a comic that tells how to make a Zoetrope out of a CD, Chapstick and paper!

Incorporate Shaun Tan's book "the Arrival" into your classroom with this creative lesson plan or check out some other ideas I have brewing.

I also have discussion questions you can download as a PDF and a comparison sheet PDF  to help students think about what they can learn about the real world from the book.
